My mom’s super awesome - when I went home she showed me this lovely watch which she made for me! Its a mix of pearls and Swarovski crystals and its really unique my friends started asking me where did I get such a pretty bling watch!

So… don’t *blink*. I’ll be selling off a couple of extremely pretty and limited edition watches handmade by my mom soonish, just watch this space! (They’ll make wonderful gifts for girlfriends, wives, or just something to spoil yourself with!)
Marutama ramen
Filed in Stuff August 5, 2008, 6:04 pm
So. I have a weakness in life.
And its this wonderful thing called Japanese ramen.
For the uninitiated, ramen could be those instant noodles you get in Albert Heijn, but for me, it just means hours and hours of boiling the pork / chicken bones till you get that wonderful broth to die for, with noodles boiled just to the brink of perfection. I’ve always been a fan of Ajisen ramen. In 2005, me and CJ spent a total of one thousand dollars on ramen - so do the maths.
So this time round, my brother brought me to this ever so famous new outlet at the Central and I am a new convert. Yummy ramen. Check. Next to Clarke Quay. Check. Cute blonde french expats sighting on the MRT. Check. I am sold.
I ordered the Marutama Tamago ramen for 13SGD (6 EUR). And truth to be told, it was the best broth I ever tasted! Instead of pork, they used chicken, however the soup was a tad oily… but good ramen is just ALL ABOUT the soup! If you have great soup, half the battle is gone already! The tamago was also heavenly and if I speak more about it I won’t be able to sleep at night. The outside of the braised egg is cooked and hard, but the yolk is still semi liquid and soy seems to just dissipate in your mouth. The noodles were light and tangy. And the char siew with all its fatty juiciness, will be the best pork you’ve ever tasted.
Admittedly, the soup wasn’t that hot and it is all considerably expensive especially when the ramen comes with only one miserable piece of char siew and some seaweed. I wished the soup would be hotter so you just have to eat faster! You can add an entire chunk of additional noodles for 1SGD if you wish and it could be too salty for some people’s taste buds. But heck I’m earning euros and everything seems so cheap in relevance of the expensive and not that great food you find in Holland. But prepare to wait for your seat - I waited 30 minutes on a weekday afternoon.
I am a convert!
Is perhaps to get lost in it

Before I forget to write something about central Europe, I thought I would do so before the procrastination bug sets in again. I went Budapest and Prague a few weeks ago to satisfy my central European curiosity. Its possibly the furthest I’ve been to in terms of going to the east side of the European continent, and for the geographically disinclined, they are located in Hungary and Czech Republic respectively.

Food is cheap. Being ever so sappy and watching “Before Sunset”, Budapest was on the list of “Wished to go in Lifetime” list. The most expensive place I ate was a mix of Beef / Mutton stew at Aranybarany - for the typical Hungarian meal. It was interesting to say the least, especially when each dish had its own story behind it.

Also caught a lovely river boat cruise up along the river. Lately I’m relaxed when discovering a new city. Instead of rushing through the entire city I’ll sit along a cobbled sidewalk just drinking a cup of coffee and enjoy the ambiance. To know the city is perhaps to get lost in it.
Inside the tiggerific pouch

There has been too much information over the past couple of days… none is really bloggable. So lets take a look in my “happy tigers mating” pouch and talk about happy things!
So there is the Maybelline Angelfit Foundation which turned out to be cheap, natural-looking and unfortunately only available in Asia, P&J Palette which is an everything all-in-one for smokey eyes in two seconds, La Mer creme which is the most expensive face cream I’ve ever bought but possibly the best ever (Tip: Refining facial rocks too!), Vera Wang Princess which I just wanted to photograph because it looked pretty, my trusty Pink Razr which was the only Moto phone which ever caught my eye, and my iPod Touch which I bought at a steal from the US and which I never used as an iPod but as a PDA + Crash Bandicoot game player courtesy of the newly released App Store!
Actually there’s no real reason behind this post. Just that I’ve been going practically au naturale lately - I mean my entire BAG used to be all makeup. Maybe its called the La Mer effect! x x x
In Engelska!

Its a rare moment when the university’s newsletters are actually in English, so this one deserves a mention. Otherwise its always in Svenska and everyone international here plays the guessing game…
Here is it! Enjoy.
Trippin’ it
Filed in Travel May 18, 2008, 2:46 pmI’m going to do a wee bit of traveling soon. And that said, there is a nice piece of advice I took up on trip organization at tripit…
Technically all you need to virtually do is to send an email to:
plans@tripit.com
Thats it! Its so easy! Tripit organizes all the data from flights, hotels, reservations for you, the unfortunate thing is that it focuses mostly on American flights / hotels / works, hopefully it extends the network to European ones as well. ![]()
Just Ghent
Filed in Travel May 6, 2008, 12:03 amLast weekend was Queen’s Day, so effectively I’m not sure about the significance except that you wear orange and party all day. Hui came over to Holland as well so it was really nice meeting her again as both of us eventually ended up in Europe.
So I went Gent was which once again a lovely experience. Except the travel back and forth from Eindhoven-Gent was insane and made me want to run out to buy a pair of walking shoes. Technically if you drive, it would take about over an hour, but because of road works and everything it took more than 4 hours to get back. So it was technically Gent - Antwerpen - Roosendaal - Tilburg - Eindhoven, of which most of it was so crowded I was standing up all the time.
But Gent was so pretty! We stayed at the Ibis Gent Centrum Kathedraal which was right in the center of the main square, so it was very convenient after attempting to find the almost invisible tourist information center. We ate some pannekoeken met suiker to the little girl which eats a little but at random times. They gave us a walking map of the entire city which was a really interesting view of the city, we got lost and actually ended up eating by the river at this lovely restaurant with wonderful grill. The view was insanely pretty although trying to find a nice jazz place wasn’t that great. We also went to the Museum of Fine Arts. For some reason I’m actually seeing more classical artwork lately and going easy on the contemporary. I also found great nogurts and almost died being hit by a train.
Actually, I learnt alot on this trip to Gent. It is always interesting to know about the clash of cultures as well as finding it a little funny about how different first impressions is to know that you absolutely cannot judge a book by its cover.
Anyway, beartje was so bored waiting for me that beartje started to stalk my blog to 2006 when I was still a very imaginative blogger. It was crazy hilarious reading about it. By the way, beartje ate up all my Milka and orange juice again.
Orange Queen’s Day

I have a feeling nobody ever reads my blog any longer. And in case you forgot how Summerrainx actually looks like. Of course, now blogs are the old thing and all those fast instant tweetering the new thing. But if platform shoes can still come into fashion once again, who knows what the future might bring?
Other than that, one of my best friends is in Switzerland and another is getting married and fulfilling her dreams of having an iMac and being a housewife!
Denial
Filed in Imaginary March 30, 2008, 9:48 pmI was listening to this song on tv, and I REALLY like it, mainly because of all the couture pieces and the fashion you actually see throughout the video! I’m also blogging from Jeroen’s new MacBook! A 2.2GHz SuperDrive equipped MacBook (I always knew he had good taste!)… while my MacBook is back in the service center ONCE AGAIN! I only got it back one week ago which I had to replace the cover as it was damaged due to the ridges on the top pressing on the bottom, and right now the screen is flickering crazily, till the point it stops and the left side of the screen dims to a lighter shade then the right! This is beginning to look like one bad Apple. Oh well..

Anyway, I started using La Mer! Xiaoqin gave me a sample a few days back and it was a miracle! The weather suddenly dipped to low temperatures and hence cycling has become very cold and dry. My skin also started peeling and everything so I started the La Mer warming and dabbing… and I’m pleased to say that the next day it actually recovered! I am a convert! I’ve used it for 3 days so far and my skin looks good in the mornings without any makeup at all (Except my dark eye circles), I’m going to give this one rave review. ![]()
